Rising Killyclogher singer delighted with her new single

KILLYCLOGHER’S rising country star is back with a fun-filled new single that is sure to get the dancefloors buzzing and the faces smiling with the joys of spring.

Titled ‘Claim on My Heart’ the track, which released this week, is a lively, traditional jiving tune that showcases Cara McGillion’s vibrant personality and musical versatility.

Cara, who previously scooped ‘Young Entertainer of the Year’ and the ‘Mighty Woman in Music Award’ for her heartfelt ballad ‘Shadows’, told the Ulster Herald that this new release is a ‘happy-go-lucky’ step in a different direction.

“I’m delighted to share this side of my music,” Cara said. “My new single is a fun, vibrant jive called ‘Claim On My Heart’, which was originally recorded by Cash On Delivery, but completely revamped and re-imagined by myself and my incredible team.

“From the very first time I heard it, I was completely hooked,” she added. “There was just something about the rhythm, the energy, and the vibe that felt right.

“It’s full of life, movement, and pure feel-good energy, so I knew straight away I wanted to put my own stamp on it.

“For me, the track reflects the stage of life I’m at right now,” Cara added. “I’m having fun, enjoying life, and not taking things too seriously.

“And while, yes, the song is about someone having a ‘claim on my heart’, it more than the lyrics – it’s the sound of the song that really speaks to me.”

Sun up, windows-down

Cara described the number as ‘one of those tracks that just makes you want to get up, dance, and feel good’.

“Hopefully that’s the vibe it brings to everyone who hears it!” she laughed. “If I had to sum it up in one line, I’d say it’s a proper feel-good, windows-down, summertime drive tune.”

Production-wise, Cara has kept that classic country feel, but with a fresh twist. Expect to hear piano, drums, steel guitar, fiddle, and all the beautiful little layers that bring it to life.

“The mix is warm and full, with a real jivey bounce that just carries the whole thing forward,” Cara continued.

“Honestly – I’m obsessed. I’ve been obsessed since the first demo, and I haven’t stopped playing it since.

“It’s a real contrast to my previous single ‘Shadows,’ and I really hope you all love it as much as I do!”

‘Claim on My Heart’ was written by the talented Ad Welten, Johan Jansen, Loek Van Heijster, and Winvan De Vilert, and recorded by the expert musicians and producers at Studio 19 in Portaferry.
