£400,000 boost will allow Omagh group to expand family project

AN OMAGH-based support group is celebrating after receiving £401,816 from the National Lottery Community Fund to support its work with families in the local area.

The funding will launch the Home-Start Omagh Outreach Project (HOOP), a four-year initiative aimed at providing weekly family groups in Beragh and Sixmilecross, Dromore and Trillick and Coolnagard in Omagh town.

Laura Doherty, chairperson of Home-Start Omagh, expressed her delight.

“We’re thrilled that the National Lottery Community Fund has recognised our work. Thanks to National Lottery players, we can now expand our support services to families in these areas that lack family support options.”

Her words were echoed by Allison Spriggs, coordinator at Home-Start Omagh District,: “We are thrilled to introduce HOOP to the Omagh District community. This project reflects our ongoing commitment to supporting families and ensuring they have access to the resources and support they need to thrive.”

The HOOP initiative is set to kick off in September 2025. Home-Start Omagh District encourages families in the three areas to stay tuned to their social media channels and website for updates on this exciting family support initiative.
