Fundraising event a fitting memorial to popular Omagh man

A special fundraising event has been held in memory of a popular Omagh man.

Joe McDermott, who was affectionately known as ‘Hoss’, tragically lost his life in a workplace accident in Australia in 2015.

The fundraising event featured a dinner dance and charity auction at the Silverbirch Hotel – the place where Joe worked diligently for ten years.

The event is expected to be the final fundraiser in Joe’s name, capping off a decade of support for the Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust.

Auction prizes included signed and framed Tyrone jerseys, a super car experience in Ireland for three people, a Conor Bradley signed and framed jersey and overnight stays in luxurious hotels across Ireland.

Joe’s sister Laura McDermott paid tribute to the ongoing support from the local community.

“As a family, we are so grateful to the people of Omagh who have supported us so generously for the last ten years,” Laura said. “What a day and night we had celebrating our main man.”
