AN event celebrating the work of our emergency services will take place in Omagh this weekend.
This free, family-friendly occasion this Sunday afternoon at the Tyrone Farming Society (TFS) Showgrounds offers a fantastic opportunity to meet the dedicated individuals behind the local emergency services and enjoy an action-packed afternoon featuring live demonstrations, vehicle tours, helicopter landings, and interactive exhibits designed to entertain and educate all ages.
Throughout the afternoon, there will be a wide variety of displays and hands-on activities showcasing the critical work carried out daily by emergency teams across Fermanagh and Omagh. Visitors can witness a realistic road traffic collision simulation involving the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service (NIFRS), Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI), and Northern Ireland Ambulance Service (NIAS).
The North West Mountain Rescue Team will demonstrate essential equipment used in their search and rescue operations, while the PSNI Dog Section will show how highly trained canines assist officers in keeping communities safe.
The crash car simulator will offer attendees a powerful and realistic experience of a road traffic incident, helping to raise awareness of road safety.
The Northern Ireland Prison Service will also be present, providing a look inside one of their vehicles and engaging with visitors about their work.
PSNI officers will be on hand with a display of operational equipment and vehicles.
A helicopter from Erne Coastguard is scheduled to land and later take off during the event, subject to operational requirements. Children can enjoy entertainment from Jo Jingles inside the TFS building, and there will be plenty of opportunities to explore the many information stands hosted by emergency and support organisations.
The event takes place from 2-5pm, admission is free, and a selection of food and refreshments will be available to purchase from on-site vendors.
A quiet space will also be available for those who need it.
