After almost 18 months without live events, the Alley Theatre is delighted to be part of the sixteenth edition of Culture Night which will take place on Friday 17 September.
A day and evening of FREE LIVE events, Culture Night invites everyone everywhere, to discover and celebrate all that our culture is today. It celebrates creativity and the arts and seeks to actively promote the belief that a rich and varied culture is alive, treasured and nurtured in people’s lives, today and every day.
The Alley Theatre is excited to be hosting the following events, so come on and lets all ‘Reconnect’ once again.
Culture Night Music in the Courtyard
Opening Culture Night we are delighted to welcome Terry Mc Cafferty. Award winning singer/songwriter Terry McCafferty, is winner of 10 National and international Song contests, has had various songs covered by Dominic Kirwan, Hugo Duncan, “The Priests” and various Choirs in both Ireland and England. Terry will be performing in our new look Alley courtyard from 5.30pm – 6.30pm so come along, relax in our new seating area with covers and listen to some wonderful music.
After Terry’s performance you can enjoy the many FREE events on offer including art exhibitions, painting class, musical performance before the brilliant Brian Hassan performs live in the Courtyard at 8.30pm. Brian has played support to numerous Irish artists including Paul Brady, Declan O Rourke, The High Kings, Donna Taggart, Tommy Flemming, The Fureys, Bagatelle, The Whistlin’ Donkeys and many more.
During lockdown, Brian released four singles during 2020 and with the assistance of the Arts Council for NI, recorded and released an additional four singles during 2021. All singles received airplay nationally and internationally. For Culture night, Brian will be playing some of these tracks as well as songs off the Tales from Home album.
Art Exhibition
Over the last three weeks we have been exhibition the beautiful exhibition ‘Irish Sea and Landscapes’ by Hungarian artist Rozália Régerné Sörös.
If you haven’t been in to view it yet, this will be your last chance to see the wonderful paintings between 10am – 8.30pm. Rozália is inspired by the Irish land and seascapes with much of her artwork based on the Wild Atlantic Way. She has a unique method with oil-based paint using a “knife” technique. All paintings are available to purchase starting from only £80
Painting Class
Want to learn how to paint beautiful landscapes? Then come along to our first workshop since re –opening. Artist Rozália Regerne Soros will share her skills in oils /acrylics medium, looking at what inspires her vibrant seascapes. Participants require their own paint materials. Places are limited so pre-booking is essential. The class will run from 6.30pm – 8.30pm
Musical Performance with Encore
We are so excited to see our stage come alive again with dancing and music as Encore Performing Arts Academy and Encore Theatre Productions present a selection of songs from their upcoming productions of ‘Shrek The Musical’ and ‘Leading Ladies Concert’. This will take place in the cabaret style auditorium with social distancing rules in place. So join us for this 50 minute production it’s a fantastic first show to open our doors to!
