37 new homes earmarked for Seskinore

A TOTAL of 37 new homes are to be constructed opposite the historic Church of Ireland in Seskinore.

Planning permission is set to be granted for the development when Fermanagh and Omagh District Council’s planning committee meets tonight (Wednesday).

The site is currently an agricultural field on the northern area of the village and directly opposite the church. It is also close to the nearby Seskinore Forest.

Located on the Seskinore Road, the area earmarked for the houses is prominent on the roadside and wraps around the rear of dwellings and commercial premises along the Main Street in the village.

There will be 30 two-storey semi-detached homes built, alongside seven detached. Seven of the houses will have access to a garage, and there will also be landscaping and associated road development.

The granting of permission comes after a public consultation exercise during the design stage. Among the concerns expressed was that the scheme is ‘sensitive’ to the established character of the village in terms of housing type, design and layout.

A site visit also took place with some residents in the village to discuss concerns about privacy, and the issues raised have also been addressed by the applicant.

Now, there will be sufficient separation and fencing between the new houses and properties in the Main Street. It is also intended that the design of the homes will be ‘respectful’ of the setting of the nearby church which once serviced the McClintock family who lived in Seskinore Forest.
