AGHYARAN poet, Susan P Doherty will be releasing her new collection of poetry entitled ‘The Gift of Time’, at the Alley Theatre, Strabane on April 16 at 7pm.
Susan Doherty, who is now living in Drumquin, has written her latest collection, a book of 40 poems that will take the reader on an emotional journey through the various stages of life, including the beginning of new relationships, perhaps the first experience of love and romance, to lifelong relationships, then touching on the loss of a loved one and the deep-felt grief that follows.
The poems are not based on any real-life situations; however, each of the poems is written to resonate with the reader’s own life experiences.
The book is dedicated to Susan’s father, Eamon Doherty, who has sadly passed away.
In October 2022, Susan had her first poetry collection, ‘The River of Life’, published.
She is a graduate of Ulster University, having gained a BA (Hons) in Business Studies and also a Masters in Business Administration (MBA), and has worked in local government for over 25 years, working both with local businesses and in the community and voluntary sector.
Susan explained that she has a great love for the written word and poetry, as it ‘enables her to combine the beauty of language and nature with the emotional journeys we experience throughout our lives’.
“This is my second poetry collection that has been published,” she said. “‘The Gift of Time’ explores the key moments of a persons life whether that be falling in love for the first time or the pain a person goes through when losing a loved one,” said Susan.
“My hope for this collection is that people read the poems and connect with them through their own experiences.”
‘The Gift of Time’ is available for purchase at www.amazon.co.uk, and a number of signed copies will also be able to be purchased at the book launch on Tuesday, April 16.
