POPULAR running programme which has boosted the health and well-being of hundreds of local people in recent years is back for 2022.
The ‘Run For Enda’ Omagh Half Marathon training programme resumes this Tuesday.
Over the coming 12 weeks, it will provide local people with the opportunity to take part in a structured track running session, aimed at preparing them for the Omagh Half Marathon. However, even if you aren’t running the half marathon or other running events, the programme will also help those just seeking to get more active this new year.
Organised by the Enda Dolan Foundation, the programme has brought much positivity for those participating over the years.
Peter Dolan helped establish the Foundation in memory of his son, Enda, who was killed by a drunk driver in 2014.
It has organised many running events, and also summer guitar workshops, for young people.
Given the lack of a local half marathon and other group participation events since the start of the pandemic, Mr Dolan says there is a sense of excitement building ahead of this latest programme, which costs £30 for the 12 weeks.
“There are a lot of people interested in doing the running programme, whether or not they plan on also completing the Omagh Half Marathon,” he said.
“We hope it will meet the needs of those anxious to get out and train themselves up to become a little bit fitter in this new year. There is definitely a need for people to come together collectively so the social aspect of the programme is particularly special in these times.”
