PUPILS from Cooley Primary School have learned how to stay safe online at ‘Internet Safety Day 2022’.
Children attended a number of events and classes that promoted internet safety. One of which was when a member of the PSNI addressed children from years three-to-seven on the importance of keeping safe while using technology. The officer told pupils what to be aware of when online, and how to report anything they might think is strange.

Other events included special assemblies throughout the week where principal, Karen Atchison, also emphasised the ‘stay safe’ message. Every pupil also had the chance to create and produce posters highlighting the importance of internet safety and these are to be displayed in the school.
‘Internet Safety Day’ was set-up to provide advice and support to children and young people, parents and carers, schools, and the children’s workforce.
It is celebrated globally in February each year to promote the safe and positive use of digital technology for children and young people, and to inspire a national conversation about using technology responsibly, respectfully, critically, and creatively.
