A LIFE-SAVING defibrillator is to be provided close to the new cafe at the Gortin Glens Forest Park within the next few weeks.
It follows concerns expressed earlier this year that the life-saving devices weren’t located at several key locations across the Omagh area, including the Gortin Glens and the Brookmount Road.
However, officials from Fermanagh and Omagh District Council have confirmed that a device has been purchased and will soon be installed in the Glens.
Local councillor, Barry McElduff, welcomed the news.
He said, “Gortin Glens is a major tourist attraction for the Omagh area and I welcome the fact that progress is being made on the provision of a defibrillator at the amenity.
“We are also working with local community organisations and others to ensure that there is a defibrillator located on the Brookmount Road which, of course, covers a large area of Omagh, including Lammy and Strule and Centenary Parks.”
