AFTER three years Strabane’s St Patrick’s Day parade makes a welcome return.
Derry City and Strabane District Council have launched a programme of events with entertainment for all the family. This includes music, drama and entertainment in the Alley Theatre and Cullen’s Funfair in the Canal Carpark.
The day will be centred around the annual parade at 2pm which will begin at Holy Cross College before making its way through Melmount Road; Bridge Street; Market Street; Abercorn Square; Railway Road and finishes in Dock Street.
There will also be entertainment at the Alley Courtyard including live music by CRAIC youth and Missing Time along with arts and cultural activities from 1pm.
The Mayor of Derry City and Strabane District Council, Alderman Graham Warke, encouraged the public to get involved in the family friendly celebrations.
“St Patrick’s Day is one of the biggest celebrations of the year in Strabane, and I’m sure thousands of people will come out to sample the sights and sounds as the parade makes a welcome return,” he said.
“The festivities are a real community effort with local businesses and organisations working with Council’s festival and events team to bring you a diverse programme that will appeal to all ages.
“It’s a great day out with Cullen’s Fun Fair in town and live music in the Alley so I’d encourage people to come out and enjoy the day.”
The festivities will finish off with the Strabane Drama Festival’s hilarious comedy Dramateurs, presented by Letterkenny Music and Drama Society as part of the Strabane Drama Festival which runs from March 11 to March 19.
