Double celebration for Omagh Baptist Church

IT was a double celebration for the congregation at Omagh Baptist Church on the eve of St Patrick’s Day, as they also marked the tenth anniversary of moving into their new building.

For the morning and evening services on Sunday, March 16, they welcomed back guest speaker, Pastor George Morrow, who led the original build of the church on Deverney Road a decade ago.

Current pastor, Robert Singleton, gave a warm reception to Mr Morrow on his return.

The guest speaker told those in attendance that a ‘WELL’ church would be ‘Worshipping, Evangelising, Loving and Learning’. He was also delighted to see the church filled for both services.

As the celebrations continued with tea and a St Patrick’s Day cake, Omagh Baptist Church secretary Ian Patterson told the UH that they were delighted to have Mr Morrow back.

He said, “George was so instrumental in the original build of our current premises.

“When he led the build a decade ago, he assured it was four times the size of the previous church and that it would be used to full capacity.

“He was most delighted to see that the building has been used to its full potential.

“He was further delighted to meet up with the Singleton family, with Robert now serving as current pastor in the Omagh Baptist Church.”

As the cake was cut and enjoyed by those in attendance, the evening concluded with songs from younger members of the congregation.
