‘It’s a great jiving number to dance along to!’ is how Angela Breen’s brand new single, released this week, has been described.
Titled ‘Let’s Make Forever Never End’, the talented Omagh-born musician hoped that her fifth single to-date will capture the same success as her previous release, ‘If Only’, which harboured excellent radio airplay and delighted fans across Tyrone and further afield.
Produced by Dan Washburn, who co-wrote the song alongside Ken Wilgosh, ‘Let’s Make Forever Never End’ was recorded at Northumberland Music Studio.
It also features top musicians from Canada and Nashville, including Steve Piticco; Ken Post; Al Bragg; Andrew Affleck; Andy Thompson; and Matt Ray.
Dan Washburn provided the back-up vocals, while Andy Thompson of Northumberland Music Studio engineered, mixed and mastered the track.
A fan of music for all of her life, Angela recounted that her first memory of singing took place when she was just eight-years-old.
“My brother recorded me singing at the age of about eight,” Angela, who has six brothers and five sisters, said. “He kept it for years, as he was so proud of me.
“I also remember in secondary school that a lot of my class mates told the teachers that I could sing, so when the school talent competition came around, they convinced me to enter,” she added. “I did, and I sang a song called, ‘Almost Persuaded’, and played guitar… and forgot the words and totally froze!
“Embarrassed much!” she laughed.
Musical influences
Angela’s songs have been heavily influenced by the artists she listened to, and adored, as a child. These included Susan McCann; Philomena Begley; Ray Lynam; Roly Daniels; and Dolly Parton.
“I listened to mainly Dolly Parton, as I loved the way she put feeling in a song, and the stories she told within the lyrics,” Angela said.
“While my influences have changed through the years, my heart still lies with country music – however, I really like the pop genre too, and enjoy everything from Bruno Mars to Vince Gill.”
Throughout the years, Angela has graced the pubs and clubs to learn, and perfect, her craft.
“I stopped singing to rear my four children as I was a single mum,” Angela recounted. “But the bug never left me, and I began to slowly get back in to it, and gain confidence again.
“My aim is for everybody to enjoy and dance to my music – and I hope they will be dancing to my brand new single, ‘Let’s Make Forever Never End’!
“Many thanks to Ken and Dan for writing this great number,” Angela continued. “And thanks, too, to all the lads who played on it.
“Finally, I’d like to say a thank you to Steve Bloor Media for all of their help – as always!”
There are exciting times ahead of fans of Angela, as she is currently in the process of recording a brand new album, due for release later this year.
The singing star concluded by saying that ‘with the help of God’, she also has a dream to write, compose and produce, her own songs from start-to-finish in the future. So, watch this space for more all-things Angela!
