Dancing queens get ready, the Bjorn Identity returns to Burnavon

Swedish pop fever is about to sweep through Tyrone this weekend, with the arrival of the top Abba tribute act – The Bjorn Identity.

The cover band’s performance in Cookstown’s Burnavon Arts Theatre this Saturday night, is perfectly timed with the release of the new album ‘Voyage’ by the real Abba last week.

The band are also set to launch a ‘virtual tour’ where fans will see avatars of the original bands members on stage.

The Björn Identity have been widely hailed as Ireland’s greatest tribute to Abba.

Celebrating their tenth anniversary with their most dedicated fans, they are delighted to return to Burnavon, where many local ‘dancing queens’ are ready to ‘lay all their love’ on these talented musicians.

RAVE REVIEWS

Since their formation back 2010, Björn Identity have been selling out venues across the country to rave reviews and audience acclaim.

Their stunning attention to detail in both staging and musicianship ensures that The Bjorn Identity, is at its heart, is the most accurate ‘Abba in Concert’ experience you are likely to see this side of Sweden.

Their uncanny vocals combined with classic Abba style choreography, Swedish humour, Benny’s famous white Yamaha CP80 and even boasting a real-life married couple… means; it just can’t get any better!

For local Abba fans, this is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the renaissance of the greatest pop band of all time.

The real Abba split up in 1982, but reformed earlier this year to record their ninth studio album Voyage. They have also released plans for a digital stage show, to be held in England next May.

The concerts will take place in the purpose-built ABBA Arena at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in London from May 27, 2022.

WEIRD AND WONDERFUL

Bandmembers Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus insist the reunion is a one-off, with the band unlikely to record more music following the release of Voyage on November 5.

In an interview Benny said of the upcoming shows, “’It will be us, in the way that we really have infused ourselves in these avatars with movement, with facials expressions, with the voices, all of that stuff makes it, it’s us,’ he told the programme.”

The digital versions of the four-piece have been created following weeks and months of motion-capture and performance techniques.

Björn said, “That’s the vision we have, an experience that nobody has ever had in music.

“You know to sit in the audience on opening night and see this thing, see ourselves… it’s going to be weird and wonderful.”

For the legions of dedicated Abba fans across Tyrone, this weekend is the perfect opportunity to welcome back the kings and queens of pop to their righful throne and it’s little wonder that the concert is sold out.
