Maolíosa McHugh, MLA who hosted a short conversation with Gerry Adams at the event. was jubilant at the turn out. He explained, “We were delighted to have Gerry back in Strabane for his book signing. We also hosted him at Pobal Mhuileann an tSiáin (Sion) on the same day, where he planted a Crann na Saoirse (tree of liberty) to mark Seachtain na Gaeilge.

“Gerry is one of Ireland’s best-known political figures and his new book brings us stories of love, of politics, of war and of friendship.

“The book was in high demand with it selling out on the day and many others being placed on a waiting list to receive their copy.

“The crowds of people at the event demonstrates the high regard in which Gerry is held by local people here across the Strabane district. We hope to see him in the local area again soon,” Mr McHugh said.
