Curtain call at Market Place

ITS been a long time coming, but The Market Place Theatre in Armagh has released its Spring 2022 season programme, offering theatre goers something to finally look forward to.

Here’s just a glimpse of some of the varied and exciting entertainment on offer.

After the last two years, we all need a laugh, and The Market Place can deliver just that. There’s a wealth of comedy on offer over the coming months, from the likes of County Down’s finest, Patrick Kielty; ‘The Outright King’ of live comedy, Jason Byrne; Irish cult comedy hero Owen Colgan and many more, all of whom will be cramming two years of material into one show, and bringing laughter back to the aisles.

Maybe you’ve missed the invigorating sound of live music. Get back in the groove with the finest singers and songwriters in the business. Taking to the stage will be the spectacular and ever-popular Ronnie Greer Blues Band; Scotland’s greatest living female voice, Eddi Reader; and the rocking Pat McManus Band.

You can also catch some of the finest tribute bands and artists over the coming months, from Celtic Soul, who effortlessly recreate the sounds of our very own Van Morrison, to Lionel, a breathtaking tribute to the music of Lionel Richie, or The Roy Orbison Story, where you’ll feel like you’re in the company of The Man In Black himself.

If classical music is more your style, sit back and relax with the delightful sounds of The Sitkovetsky Trio, or enjoy a scintillating evening of much-loved opera arias, duets and ensembles with Ulster Touring Opera. Or catch one of the amazing recitals with the talented pianist Cahal Masterson, trumpeter Stephen Murphy, and the spectacular pianist Michael McHale.

Drama buffs will be well catered for. Back on stage are Bruiser Theatre Company who will present Owen McCafferty’s renowned play ‘Mojo Mickybo’, while ‘The Man Who Left The Titanic’ will take on the morals of those on board the doomed liner. Why not try some interactive drama and see if you can solve the crime in ‘Solve-Along-A-Murder-She-Wrote’, a new thoroughly enjoyable theatre experience.

Don’t forget The Market Place also offers a superb range of interactive workshops for adults and children, but be quick, because these are sure to be as popular as ever, and tickets won’t hang around for long.
