Douglas Bridge singer is in running to win very special award

A DOUGLAS Bridge artist who penned a wistful song about pondering our past relationships is in the running to win a very special award – but he is in need of our votes!

Jamesy O’Kane has been nominated for ‘Irish Country Song of the Year 2021’ by Downda Road Radio for his autobiographical single, ‘Indy’, released in July.

And now, the local lad is calling on the people of Tyrone to vote – or continue voting – for his song online to see if he can bring the coveted prize back to his much-loved county.

“I’d really appreciate if you could give my song, ‘Indy’, a vote and a share,” he said. “And, of course, thanks so much for your kindness and support over the past year. You keep these eyes blue, and these cheeks smiling.”

Jamesy is now back living in Douglas Bridge – the place where he was born and reared – but in his post-university years, he answered the call to travel.

He ended up living in Indianapolis – known affectionately by its inhabitants as ‘Indy’ – and that is exactly what he named his revered single.

Influed by U2 and Bruce Springsteen, the number perfectly blends together refreshing vocals and honest, raw storytelling.
