For Valentine’s Day, with love

A HEARTFELT love song that is as timeless as romance itself, and just as beautiful, is how Angela Reid’s brand new single can be described – and it will be released just in time for Valentine’s Day.

Indeed, the Fintona artist hopes that her self-penned number, ‘You’re The One’ will be enjoyed and deeply understood by anyone who is in love, and listened to be future brides and grooms on their wedding day as they make their vows eternal.

Launching this Wednesday (February 9), the original ballad, etched with piano, keyboards, fiddles and swooping harmonies, also offers couples a chance to reflect upon their life’s journey, as they move forward as ‘one’.

Speaking to the UH, Angela, who is currently employed by Fermanagh and Omagh District Council as an employment mentor, modestly recalls how the ballad was first recorded at her little kitchen table on her phone – but it has since been on quite the soaring journey!

“I originally wrote the song and played guitar along with it on my home recording,” she recalled. “It didn’t take me long to write – from memory, I composed it in little over an hour.

“But as is often the case with songs, within the simplicity, lies a deep and personal meaning. I hope that anyone who is in love will enjoy it.”

‘BEST IN THE BUSINESS’

Inspired by many musicians, including Dolly Parton; Emmylou Harris; Bonnie Raitt; Alison Krauss; Miranda Lambert; Tammy Wynette; Patsy Cline; and Lorretta Lynn, Angela explained that ‘You’re The One’ was recorded just before Christmas at Harmony Recording Studios, Letterkenny, under the watchful eye – and ear – of Brian Kerrigan.

“During the process, I sang both the lead and harmony vocals in the song, while Brian Kerrigan played the piano and keyboards; Declan O’Hare played the guitar; and Damien McGeehan played the fiddle; and then the track was mastered by Jonathan Owens of ‘Spout Recording Studios’, Longford,” she said. “These guys are among the best musicians and studio recording engineers to be found in the Irish music industry, and I am very pleased with the production of the recording.

“It transformed my little home recording into something beautiful, and I am truly excited to see how far it will go, now that it has been given its own musical wings.”

While Angela has released a number of albums in the past, where she covered the songs of others, she described feeling ‘very excited’ about the release of her own number.

“I have been composing a lot of my own material recently and this is one of the songs that I thought would be ideal for release at this time, especially with the feast of St Valentine being celebrated during the month of February,” she said. “It is also the perfect song to perform at wedding ceremonies and celebrations.

“I really do hope that people enjoy listening to it as much as I enjoyed writing and singing it!”

‘Life is for loving’

Do you have a special message for your fans, Angela?

“Life is for living and loving,” she said. “Be true to yourself in pursuit of your passions, dreams, and ambitions and you won’t ever have to search for peace of mind, happiness and contentment.”

Concluding, Angela expressed her thanks to her family, friends, fans, and musical mentors for their unwavering love, support, and belief in her – and for encouraging her to pursue her passion for music, so that one day she can realise her dreams and ambitions.
