A TYRONE songwriter who is currently based in Dubai is set to release his latest single this month after returning to Ireland to record it alongside a number of other tracks which he will release later this year.
Joe Girvin, originally from Edendork, will release his new single ‘Forever Dear’ on January 31 on all major streaming platforms.
Speaking with the Tyrone Herald about the track, Joe said he wrote the song over the period of a year.
“It was a case of leaving it and coming back to it many months apart,” Joe explained.
“I started writing it whilst on a trip to the Maldives before getting third degree burns after spending 25 minutes in the ocean.
“After returning to Dubai, I was still struggling with the aftermath of the burns and didn’t get around to finishing the song until later that year, despite having the structure of it set within the first five minutes of writing it.”
Upon returning to Ireland in 2025 for a visit, Joe recorded the song, and numerous others, in Analogue Studio B just outside Newry over a four day period.
Having released four singles and a six track EP entitled ‘Maybe It’s Time’ in 2025, as well as two music videos, Joe said he wanted to ‘keep the momentum going’ which ultimately inspired him to fly back to Ireland and hit the recording studio.
“It was the best studio experience I have had to date,” said Joe.
“Luckily, my best friends are some of the best musicians in Ireland, so it all came together take after take.
“My producer, Declan Legge, is no stranger to the studio and is evening managing bands on the local scene now.”
Joe continued, describing the experience as “an absolute dream from start to finish.”
“I am an independent artist working towards the big dream of being a household name,” he said.
“I’m thankful for every who has listened to my music and watched my videos to date.
“There is so much more to come in the future.”
No stranger to writing and releasing his own music, the 26-year-old Tyrone man has firmly established himself as one of the hardest-working musicians, both at home and abroad, over the last decade, having been playing guitar and writing songs since the age of 13.
Citing some of his biggest influences as Ed Sheeran, Foy Vance and Mumford and Sons, he has, to date, released a wealth of original music including the 2017 EP ‘Isn’t It Simple’, the 2022 single ‘Walkin Over’ and the 2024 track ‘My Queen’ – to name a few.
