Local talent set to shine on the Alley stage this Spring

Local talent is to the fore in the exciting new programme of events coming to the Alley Theatre this spring.

The Covid-19 pandemic means it has been two years since The Alley produced a Spring programme but it is now returning with a packed schedule of comedy, music, drama, exhibitions and shows to suit all ages and tastes.

The programme is packed full of local performers such as Emer Maguire, Sorry For Your Loss, Give My Head Peace, Orange is the New Green, Brian Hassan and Gerard Bradley.

The Alley will also be hosting festivals including the NI Science Festival at the end of February, Strabane Drama Festival in March and the Strabane Unplugged Revisited Festival in April.

There will be exhibitions from the Northern Ireland Photographic Association Annual Exhibition, Boz Mugabe and the Strabane Unplugged Revisited and the Alley will also be taking part in Derry City and Strabane District Council’s wider festival and events programme, including the Jazz Festival and St Patrick’s Day.

There are also shows specifically aimed at children, including ‘Fartology’ as part of the NI Science Festival, the Saturday Kids Shows with the Barking Dog Theatre Company and Treasure Island.

Mayor of Derry City and Strabane District Council, Alderman Graham Warke, said it was great to see a full Spring programme back at the Alley.

“I am delighted to launch the new Spring programme at the Alley Theatre, marking the 15th anniversary and a return to more normal programming at this important venue.

“The theatre team have worked incredibly hard to put together a jam-packed schedule that has so many amazing shows and exhibitions.

“There really is something in it for everyone and it will be fantastic to see more and more people coming back through the doors of the Alley in the next few months.

“We are also still conscious of Covid-19 and the health and safety of all visitors is a big priority, so everyone can be assured there will be appropriate measures in place to keep people safe.

“Make sure you check out the programme and start marking off your calendars and getting your tickets bought.”

Louise Boyce, Alley manager, is delighted to be welcoming the public back to the Strabane venue.
