Lockdown ‘instrumental’ to Doyle Mills’ new album

AN instrumental record, painted using a palette of experimental sounds, electronic devices, jazz influences, guitars, keyboards and inspired by experiences of lockdown has been released by a talented Omagh musician.

Titled ‘Two Mile Radius’, the vibrant album is the passion project of multi-instrumentalist Doyle Mills, who is also one of the two lead guitarists with local band, Stone Resistance.

Launched recently during a well-received set at Boneyard Records, Omagh, Doyle said he was ‘excited’ to have new music emerging.

“I am very pleased that my latest CD is now available,” he commented. “Influenced and inspired by recent lockdowns, it features 13 tracks, covering a range of styles, using programming, electric instruments and acoustic ones.

“On the album, I play the acoustic guitar, slide guitar, bass, keyboards, and percussion, and I am very thankful to Beth McClenahan who contributed her fabulous violin to the work as well.”

Guitar textures lie deeply at the core of ‘Two Mile Radius’, but the record is also delicately layered with thought-provoking keyboards, and an experimental palette, incorporating blues, jazz influences, as well as the humming of more modern sounds.

“I hope to be out-and-about playing tracks from it soon,” Doyle said. “And of course, I’ll have a few copies stashed in my guitar case for purchase… But I’ll keep you posted!”

WORDLESS – BUT EXPRESSIVE

In 2019, Doyle released an album appropriately-titled ‘Wordless’.

The CD of instrumental music was largely an acoustic-based project, bathed in folk undertones, and with roots stemming from the classical genre.

‘Two Mile Radius’ is now on sale at Boneyard Records, and it is hoped it will available in other outlets soon. It can also be purchased directly from Doyle Mills.
