Omagh Library to host interviews with Irish authors

AS part of this year’s Book Week NI celebrations, Libraries NI will welcome BBC presenter Emma Vardy who will interview Irish authors Louise Nealon and Niamh Campbell at Omagh Library on Wednesday.

Louise Nealon is a writer from Co Kildare. In 2017, she won the Seán Ó Faoláin International Short Story Competition and was the recipient of the Francis Ledwidge Creative Writing Award. She has been published in the Irish Times, Southword, and The Open Ear. She received a degree in English literature from Trinity College Dublin in 2014 and a master’s degree in creative writing from Queen’s University Belfast in 2016. ‘SNOWFLAKE’ is her first novel.

Niamh Campbell’s debut novel This Happy was nominated for the An Post Irish Book Awards, the Kerry Group Irish Novel of the Year Award, and the John McGahern Book Prize. In 2020, she also won the Sunday Times Audible Short Story Award for her story ‘Love Many’. Her short work can be found in The Dublin Review, 3:AM, Banshee, Tangerine, Five Dials, Granta, and gorse. She has been funded by the Arts Council of Ireland and is 2021 Writer in Residence at University College Dublin. Her second novel We Were Young is forthcoming in 2022. She lives and works in Dublin.

Emma Vardy is the BBC’s Ireland Correspondent covering both Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland for their flagship news programmes. You’ll see/hear her reports on the BBC Six and Ten o’lock news as well as on BBC World, the Today programme and other outlets.

This event is open to all library members and virtual library members and will also be streamed live online.
