On the stage with: Santa Aidy

Recall for us an early memory you have of music.

I always loved Bing Crosby singing ‘Adeste Fidelis’.

Which artists did you listen to growing up?

That’s an easy one. ‘Elf-is’.

Give me the name of the first album that you ever bought?

My first album was ‘Now That’s what I Call Christmas: Volume 1’.

Tell me a song that makes you feel nostalgic.

I do like Greg Lake’s ‘I Believe In Father Christmas’, as I have always believed in myself.

What are you listening to at the minute?

Michael Buble’s ‘Christmas’ album.

Who is your favourite artist currently?

I have a little liking for Dua Lipa. I can’t wait until she does a Christmas album!

Give us the name of the last song you listened to?

‘Walking in a Winter Wonderland’. I hear there is a good one of those in Omagh!

What are your feel-good tunes?

‘When Santa Got Stuck Up The Chimney’; ‘Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer’; and ‘Jingle Bells’.

Which song has make you cry?

‘O Holy Night’. It gives me tears of joy, as it’s what Christmas is all about, the little baby born to us all them years ago.

Are there any songs you really dislike?

I wouldn’t be a fan of songs with naughty lyrics.

What track/s do you always have on repeat?

‘Santa Claus Is Coming To Town’ by Bruce Springsteen.

Any guilty musical pleasures?

I am partial to the two Pritchard boys, Brothers Inc., and I feel guilty about it, ho ho ho!

Do you have a favourite lyric?

Yes, the whole first verse of ‘Away In A Manger’. It fills me with so much happiness.

And finally… Give us the name of a brilliant, but underrated, song.

That’s easy. ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’. And know that Santa walks with you all through every storm.

A little about you

What is your age, and where are you from?

Well, I am the same age as my tongue, and a little bit older than my teeth.

What is your occupation?

A maker of toys, and a giver of joy.

What are your hobbies?

I do like to read and write stories… Oh, is eating cookies also a hobby?! If it is, then it’s up there, too.

Tell us a fun or surprising fact about you that people may not know.

One of my reindeer is called ‘Olive’. You hear her mentioned in ‘Rudolph, the Red Nosed Reindeer’, at the part were it goes, ‘Olive, the other reindeer, who used to laugh and call him names!’ Ho ho ho.
