Patrick Kielty to perform in Omagh tomorrow

From Brexit, to borders; protocols to politicians… No controversial topic is off the table for Patrick Kielty, who will be serving up boiling hot cups of comedy to audiences of the Strule Arts Centre, Omagh, tomorrow evening.

Returning to his satirical roots with his first live tour in five years, the award-winning comic, who hails from Dundrum, County Down, tries to make sense of what a dis-United Kingdom and a dis-United Ireland means for the future of our islands with his show, ‘Borderline’.

A comedic love letter to the future of our land from Patrick’s personal past, the stand-up performance promises to be a fine blend of bittersweet, poignant and laugh-out-loud funny.

‘Critially-acclaimed comic’

Born in Dundrum, Patrick began his stand-up career as host of Belfast’s first comedy club The Empire Laughs Back in 1992.

Bathed in accolades, Patrick’s entertainment credits include ‘PK Tonight’; ‘Patrick Kielty Almost Live’; and ‘Live at the Apollo’ for the BBC, and ‘Last Chance Lottery’ and ‘Stand Up For The Week’ for CH4.

A former Grierson UK documentary host of the year, the stand-up and broadcaster’s RTS winning ‘Mullholland Drive’ and BAFTA-nominated ‘My Dad, The Peace Deal and Me’ both won plaudits, while his latest film, ‘Patrick Kielty:100 Years of Union’ recently premiered on BBC1 to audience and critical acclaim.

And indeed, this year will sees the release of his first feature film, ‘Ballywalter’, where he plays the role of Shane alongside IFTA nominated Seána Kerslake. Other acting credits include ‘A Night in November’, written by Marie Jones, for which he received a ‘What’s On Stage’ nomination.
