‘MUSIC gives opportunities and life to so many – we all love it!”
These are the uplifting words of Rachel Bingham, head of Music at Omagh Academy, who simply can’t wait to proudly welcome audiences to the school’s annual spring concert at the Strule Arts Centre.
A highly-anticipated fixture in the school’s calendar, the special concert is cheerfully titled ‘Serenade for Spring’, and features an assortment of performances by students from years 8-to-14.
With music to suit everyone’s tastes, the concert presents the junior and senior choirs; brass band; string orchestra; woodwind ensemble; guitar group; and much, much more.
“The pupils and staff from the Music Department at Omagh Academy are really looking forward to the concert,” said Rachel.
“After a pause on music performances during the Covid-19 pandemic, we are absolutely delighted to take to the stage at the Strule Arts Centre once more.
“Everyone is working hard, and loving all of the opportunities to come together for ensemble rehearsals.
“This concert will be a real showcase for our students.”
It was in March 2020 that the pupils of Omagh Academy last performed their spring concert to a live audience.
“It’s hard to explain how much all of us have missed the concert experience!” Rachel continued.
“Even though we had online lessons and virtual performances during the last two years, the rapport from a live audience is something special.”
