The Alley Theatre delighted to bring back weekend music

The Alley Theatre is delighted to be bringing the best of local bands, singer-songwriters and musicians back to audiences through a series of online gigs ‘The Vaccine Sessions’, streamed over the Alley Theatre Facebook and Youtube pages every Saturday at 9pm.

So far we have welcomed ‘Without Willow’ and ‘Tramp’ over the last two weeks and this week The Heathen Choir will take to the stage.

The Heathen Choir is an ever evolving alternative rock group led by songwriter / producer Darren Doherty (A Northern Light). With lyrics of an intensely personal nature Doherty’s long standing reputation for memorable melodies and hard hitting topics are put in the spotlight in this project like no other. Alcoholism, domestic violence and Northern Ireland’s colourful political landscape are all tackled head on with a wit and genuine earnestness reminiscent of Pink Floyds’ Roger Waters and the sadly departed Scott Hutchison of Frightened Rabbit.

Next up on July 17 is Strabane singer/ songwriter Juno Hasson. Juno has the vocal control and presence of someone twice her age.

Drawing from influences like Tori Kelly, Aretha Franklin and The Jackson Five, Juno specialises in Pop and RnB. She is definitely one to watch out for and not to be missed.

Rock /Punk band Fast Thursday will be streaming on Saturday, July 24. Fast Thursday are a loud energetic hard rock band who’ve played gigs in every pub bar and club up and down Ireland, they are an original drums bass and guitar trio and to truly experience the feel of a Fast Thursday show is a wild ride.

Last up in July is the brilliant Gav Kelly. Musician/photographer Gavin Kelly has been whiling away the hours during lockdown writing and recording new material, and experimenting with different genres and alter egos. On July 31 Gav will be delivering a few original tracks and a favourite cover version from his online live lockdown gigs. Gav has plenty of new music coming in 2021 with a forthcoming debut solo album out this year also Other bands and singer songwriters coming up in August include Glen Rouse, Dean Maywood and Dogriver, and Morgan McDaid.
