A HEARTFELT story, which follows the fortunes of a little girl from Tyrone who dreams of singing success and stardom is the theme of a very special play coming to The Patrician, Carrickmore, in celebration of the famous hall’s 60th birthday this year.
Written and directed by Declan Forde, ‘Carmen: An Irish Folk Opera’, transports the audience all the way back to 1962, and uncovers the history of the much-loved venue, and indeed Ireland, through the eyes of protagonist, Carmen.
Featuring a live band, and a cast and crew from right across the Parish of Termonmaguirc, ranging in age from 11 to more than 80-years-old, the specially-commissioned play relives the showbands and rock bands; plays, politics and pantomimes; drama and dancing to memorable musicals, riveting romances and deadly discos.
Packed full of laughs, emotion, entertainment and nostalgia, many of the major acts who have played in ‘the Hall’ over the years will be reflected as Carmen journeys from 1962 up until the present day,
Performed at the venue between Thursday, April 7, and Saturday, April 9, ‘Carmen: An Irish Folk Opera’, is sure to be a memorable three nights of entertainment, with a few surprises along the way!
Tickets, priced at £12.50, can be purchased from The Patrician, or by calling Christina on ‘07853282563’ or Eilish on ‘07769266002’.
