Matt Lucas and Noel Fielding present a festive special doubling up as a celebration of Channel 4's 40th anniversary, with five contestants from the channel's history. Gaby Roslin (The Big Breakfast), Tony Robinson (Time Team), Miquita Oliver (Popworld), Terry Christian (The Word) and Claire Sweeney (Brookside) are the Channel 4 veteran competing for the title of Christmas Star Baker, and hoping for a Hollywood handshake along the way. As a special treat, the show ends with a performance by the English National Ballet.

The celebrities taking on the snowy challenge this year are reality TV legend Gemma Collins, choirmaster Gareth Malone, presenter Melvin Odoom, comedy actor Joe Thomas, and documentary star and DJ Yinka Bokinni.

Music includes Warlock's setting of Adam Lay Ybounden, Errollyn Wallen's Peace on Earth and Vaughan Williams' Fantasia on Christmas Carols - marking the composer's 150th anniversary. The service is introduced by the Dean, the Rev Dr Stephen Cherry, members of the college read from King James Bible and from poems by Denise Levertov and UA Fanthorpe, and congregational carols include O Come All Ye Faithful and Hark! the Herald Angels Sing.
