TWO Tyrone-based comedians are taking part in a sold-out comedy boxing night at the Ulster Hall in June, which will see some of Ulster’s funniest people stepping between the ropes of the squared circle for a great cause.
This is the second annual comedy boxing show held at the famous Belfast venue, and two comedians from Tyrone who fought at last year’s event will lace their gloves up for the second time.
All monies raised by the event will go to fund local charity Children’s Cancer Unit who assist local families and has helped to fund the ward at Belfast’s Royal Victoria Hospital.
Strabane funny man, Ro Boyle, who fought in last year’s event and has fought in MMA, and Omagh comedian and host of the Green Room comedy nights, Claire Corrigan, will both be fighting.
Both fought at last year’s events with Ro going toe-to-toe with Belfast comedian Paddy McDonnell while Claire Corrigan took on up-and-coming funny person Rachel Mc Peake.
This year, Ro Boyle will be taking on popular comedian, Colin Geddis, who is best-known for his popular Internet series, ‘I am Fighter’, where he plays fictional fighter, Barry ‘The Blender’ Henderson.
Ro told the Tyrone Herald he could not wait for the show in June.
He said, “I’m gonna have to put on a show this time. Due to the abuse I received from the people of Strabane over the last fight
“He’s a big cub 10 years my junior, three inches taller and about four stone heavier.
“Could be a quick one.”
Omagh’s Claire Corrigan is fighting Antrim comedian Jazmynne Sierra who is a well-known face performing to Tyrone stand-up fans playing recent shows in Omagh, Beragh and Strabane.
Although the event is sold out you can still tune into the event on pay-per-view, details to be announced shortly.
