1. Rory McIlroy and Erica Stoll
Named the ‘wedding of the decade’, Rory McIlroy’s wedding to Erica Stoll this April was more than lavish. After meeting in 2012 and getting engaged in 2015, The pair married at Ashford Castle in County Mayo, surrounded by over 350 acres of woodland.
Built in 1228, the castle has gorgeous Irish scenery, including the shores of Lough Corrib. In the past, the likes of Pierce Brosnan and former Westlife singer Shane Filan have tied the knot there, and guests like John Lennon, Brad Pitt and Ronald Reagan have attended. For McIlroy, Stevie Wonder is said to have performed with a full orchestra, followed by a fireworks display, with guests like Ed Sheeran and Jamie Dornan. One Direction’s Niall Horan was also said to be in attendance, as well as Coldplay’s Chris Martin.
McIlroy showed how elegant and classic a castle wedding can be, leaving no expense. The castle was booked Wednesday to Sunday, for the five day affair.
2. Laura Trott and Jason Kenney
Married secretly in the 17th Century Hilltop Country House in Cheshire in September 2016, the Olympic cyclists Laura Trott and Jason Kenney have 10 Olympic gold medals between them. They announced the wedding by tweeting a picture with the caption: “good morning Mrs Kenney”. Laura’s stunning lace dress and the country setting provided a traditional atmosphere with close friends and family.
3. Christine Bleakley and Frank Lampard
The former Chelsea FC player Frank Lampard married TV presenter Christine Bleakley less than a week before Christmas in 2015. After a four year engagement, the pair tied the knot at St Paul’s church in London’s Knightsbridge with Piers Morgan, Jamie and Louis Redknapp and Holly Willoughby in attendance. Christine’s full length, lacey dress was the talk of the wedding, with the sleeves adding a classic twist.
4. Tom Fletcher and Giovanna Falcone
McFly star Tom Fletcher married actress and author Giovanna Falcone back in May 2012, but the big day remains memorable. Not only did Tom’s wedding speech go viral on YouTube, but the pair shared photographs and video footage of the celebration.  The couple met at Sylvia Young theatre school when they were just 13. Over a decade later, the ceremony was held at One Marylebone, a 19th century church, with Giovanna turning up in a black and white vintage car.
5. Tanya Burr and Jim Chapam
Best known for their online presence, YouTube sensations Tanya Burr and Jim Chapman married in September 2015 after getting engaged in New York in 2012. The location, Babington House, is where Millie Mackintosh and Professor Green said “I do”. With fellow online celebrities, like Zoe Sugg and Alfie Deyes in attendance, the talk turned to Tanya’s impressive veil.
