THANKS to the kindness of Tyrone’s animal lovers, homeless dogs living in Serbia have something to jump, bark and be excited about: New toys, new beds, and more!
This week, the Animal Support Trust are sending two large boxes of fun-filled supplies which have been donated by the kind-hearted people of Omagh and beyond, to Ub Pound, Serbia, to bring comfort to the 150 poor puppers who survive there with little more than a roof over their heads and food to eat.
These boxes are filled with cosy coats, blankets and beds – a godsend when Serbia’s icy winters take their grip – toys, grooming supplies, cages, puppy pens, collars, and even a power washer to help keep the dog’s accommodation that bit cleaner.
The gifts are intrinsic to the mental well-being of the dogs; 75 per-cent of whom spend their entire lives living in the lonely confines of the pound.
Delighted at the success of the recent gift appeal, Lynda expressed a ‘massive thank you’ to everyone who donated.
“People have been so generous,” Lynda said. “It means more than words could ever say. Seventy-five per-cent of dogs in the pound spend their whole lives there, and with the winters in Serbia getting as cold as minus 30 degrees Celsius, it is vital they get as many blankets, beds, and coats to keep them warm.”
• If you would like to aid the animals of Serbia and donate a future gift – such as a hard plastic dog bed, collars, and treats – please contact the Animal Support Trust on Facebook for more information.
