Arson attack: deliberate blaze set in Meelmore Drive

A house in the Meelmore Drive area of Strathroy, Omagh, has suffered extensive fire damage in what police believe to have been an arson attack.

At approximately 3.30am, on Tuesday, August 17, the house went ablaze in what police are treating as a deliberate attack, resulting in one man being evacuated from an adjoining property.

A spokesperson for the Police Service of Northern Ireland said: “The report was received just before 3.30am.

“Police attended along with colleagues from Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service, who extinguished the blaze.

“The house was unoccupied so, thankfully, no one was harmed.

“At this stage, it is believed the fire was started deliberately and is being treated as arson.
