Killyclogher shop serving the community for 60 years

A Killyclogher shop is celebrating being at the heart of the local community for the past 60 years.

To mark the momentous occasion, the McGinns Spar has just completed a major refurbishment of its hot food and deli counter. It has also resulted in the addition of two members of staff to cater for the increase in business.

Owner, Kieran McGinn, said, “The feedback we have received from our very loyal customers, and many new faces, is particularly positive and the increase in sales is very encouraging.”

The McGinns are celebrating 60 years as local retailers this year, with the additional milestone of 50 years as a Spar store.

The Spar brand is also celebrating 60 years of serving communities, after arriving in the North in 1961. Mr McGinn said they had grown the business from a small corner shop to a large convenience store, with all its services through the long-running partnership with Spar NI.

He said, “We are really proud to have been part of the local community for such a long time, and will continue to look after our customers for years to come.
“We are also delighted that our staff and shoppers have raised over £18,000 for Marie Curie in Northern Ireland, thanks to its partnership with Spar NI.”

Jacqueline McGinn added, “Our relationship with all the team at Henderson Group is very strong and has helped us to grow our business over the years.
“Our milestone anniversary is one we want to share with our loyal, local shoppers.”
