McCay Solicitors officially opened their impressive new offices at 1 John Wesley Street earlier this month. The opening was attended by many of Strabane’s leading business figures and even had Jamie- Lee O’Donnell who stars as Michelle in Channel 4’s hit series Derry Girls in attendance. Although now living in Derry, managing director, Gareth McCay, has close family ties with the local area and two of his uncles, George and Eamon McCay from local success story Frylite, were in attendance at the office opening. Gareth explains: “My family are from the Glebe and I grew up in Sion. Since then I have lived in Derry, Belfast, Leeds and Manchester but my wife is from Derry so I inevitably relocated back to Derry from Manchester after our first daughter was born. It is a proud moment to be expanding our business in Strabane.”
The firm is already heavily involved in the local community providing sponsorship to Strabane AFC, Sion Swifts, Bready Cricket Club and assisting Sion Cricket Club following recent arson attacks at its ground. The firm was also lead sponsor in popular local charity event M Dancing. Mr McCay explains the host of services available, “Our firm is focussed on commercial law and private client work. I spent eight years working in large commercial law firm in Manchester and Belfast before deciding to open my own practice in 2015. Our Commercial team act for businesses of all sizes from sole traders right up to multi-nationals.
“Our Private Client team deal with conveyancing, wills and probate, personal injury and family/matrimonial law. Our property team has grown from strength to strength and we work closely with estate agents and developers to provide a seamless service to our clients. Our firm tries to offer something different and our focus is on providing quick responses and turnaround whilst not compromising on quality. To achieve this we have invested in the most recent technology and we have recently undergone a complete IT upgrade to help us work seamlessly across both sites.”
O’Neills Sports managing director and chairperson of Strabane BID, Kieran Kennedy, was at the office opening and revealed the impact that McCay Solicitors has had on the company, “We moved all of our legal work from a large Belfast firm to McCay Solicitors in 2017 and we have never regretted that decision. The level of service has been second to none and the range of services has been hugely beneficial to our business. McCay Solicitors have consistently delivered for us on a range of projects and this new office will be a huge asset for Strabane and the surrounding areas.”
