AN OMAGH man has been cleared of carrying a knife outside a school in the town.
At Omagh Magistrates Court this week an update was heard in the case of 42-year-old Martin McGovern, of James Street.
McGovern was initially charged with possessing a knife in public on November 18, alongside possession of cannabis and class C tablets.
However, at a previous hearing the court was told that witnesses failed to identify McGovern as the suspect in a police identity parade.
On Tuesday, the Public Prosecution Service (PPS) said that the knife possession charge could be withdrawn.
However, both drug possession allegations will proceed for prosecution.
The case will return to Omagh Magistrates Court on June 10 for an update.
