Covid-19: Second Omagh school confirms positive case

A SECOND Omagh school has informed parents of a positive Covid-19 case within its community, it has been confirmed.

In a statement released to the Ulster Herald, Jonathan Gray, principal of Arvalee School and Resource Centre, located at the Strule Shared Education Campus, said that a member of the school community had tested positive for Covid-19.

Mr Gray said the school had moved “very quickly” to deal with the situation on Monday morning.

He said, “The school sought advice from the Public Health Agency and the parents of the pupils and the staff with potential contact have been informed.

“The school operates strict ‘Bubbles’ (sections), which has limited the number of potential contacts and has acted to keep the community safe at this time.”

He added, “The school will continue to monitor the situation carefully and keep the school community informed.”

Yesterday (Monday), the Ulster Herald reported that parents of children at Drumragh Integrated College had been informed that a member of its school community had tested positive for Covid-19.

A message sent to parents at the weekend stressed that the person had not been in contact with students.

It added, “Please be reassured that the safety of our students and staff is our highest priority and every precaution has been taken to ensure their safety.”
