Covid: 235 more positive cases in local council areas

THERE have been a further 235 confirmed cases of Covid-19 in the three council areas that cover Tyrone, the latest daily figures released by the Department of Health have revealed.

In the 24-hour period after midnight on October 13, 104 more individuals tested positive for coronavirus in Derry City and Strabane, 98 in Mid Ulster and 33 in Fermanagh and Omagh.

Across the whole of the North, there were 763 further confirmed cases and four more deaths reported by the Department.

In the last seven days, a total of 6,394 individuals in the North have tested positive for Covid-19.

Derry City and Strabane’s infection rate over the last seven days remains the highest in the North, with 870.1 positive cases per 100,000 people, with Belfast in second place at 475.3 per 100,000.

Mid Ulster is in third place, narrowly behind Belfast with an infection rate of 471.8 per 100,000.

According to the latest data, Fermanagh and Omagh’s infection rate for the last seven days is 228.5 per 100,000.

Currently, there are 201 confirmed Covid-19 inpatients being treated in the North’s hospitals, with 24 in Intensive Care Units.

Meanwhile, there are active coronavirus outbreaks at 64 care homes across the North.
