Fitness fundraiser provides tablets for renal patients

A PERSONAL trainer from Tyrone has presented £2,813.80 to support NHS staff.

The money was raised through Paddy McGrath’s ‘Getting Fit to Help the Frontline Fight’ fundraiser last month.

With the restrictions in hospital visiting in place at the moment due to Covid-19, part of the proceeds from the fundraiser have been used to purchase four tablets for use by patients in the local renal unit so that they can communicate with their family and friends, browse the internet or watch a movie whilst receiving dialysis.

The Killyclogher gym owner enlisted the efforts of over 20 other fitness, health and wellbeing coaches to provide their expertise online over two days with over 500 people generously donating while getting fit.

Paddy, from PMAX Fitness, said, “As a personal trainer I wanted to do something to help support our local health care heroes and I was delighted to participate.

“The event was open to everyone – you didn’t need to be super fit – the coaching classes were geared for all the family, young and not so young to try out different activities.

“There was something for everyone to try including body weight, core, Pilates, yoga, kettle bells, dumbbells and other specialised classes.

“I would like to say a massive thank you to all the coaches and to everyone who took part it was a fantastic event with plenty of fun, laughter and friendship raising money for a great cause at the same time!”
