Funerals to be held this weekend for A5 crash victims

FUNERALS will be held this weekend for the three young men who were killed as a result of a collision with a lorry on the A5 at Garvaghey in the early hours of Monday morning.

Nathan Corrigan (20) from Garvaghey, 21 year-old Peter Alexander Finnegan from Clogher and 20 year-old Petey McNamee from Sixmilecross all died at the scene of the crash which happened at around 1.50am.

The funeral of Mr Finnegan will be the first to take place in St Patrick’s Church, Clogher, at 12.30pm on tomorrow (Saturday). He will be laid to rest in the adjoining cemetery.

Later in the day, Petey McNamee’s Requiem Funeral Mass will be held in the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Beragh at 2.30pm, followed by burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

Requiem Mass will take place for Nathan Corrigan at 1pm on Sunday in St Matthew’s Church, Garvaghey, with burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

The PSNI have also confirmed the ages of the three men, whose remains were returned to their families last night (Thursday).

A fourth man, also understood to be from Sixmilecross, remains in hospital, where he is being treated for his injuries.

In a statement, Sergeant Maguire said that their investigations into what happened were continuing.

“Our enquires are continuing and the Collision Investigation Unit are appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time and may have witnessed the incident or who has dash-cam footage or any other information to contact police on 101 quoting reference number 240 27/12/21.”
