WALKING down the stony path of the Grange Park to marry her best friend in an intimate outdoor ceremony may not have been the wedding day that a local bride always dreamed of, but the occasion will go down in the history books.
Not only were Julie Ford from Omagh and David Hannaway from Derry the first couple to wed in the public park, but the pair were also the first couple to wed in the district since the introduction of restrictions in relation to Covid-19.
The small sunlit ceremony, which took place on Monday, was conducted by Fermanagh and Omagh District Council registrar, Hazel Alderdice, and featured just three guests – Julie’s father, Glenn Ford, and David’s parents, Margaret and Sean Hannaway.
But for Julie, the special day meant ‘the world’ – not least because the pair had their hearts set on getting married this year.
