A big-hearted Omagh man is holding a special fundraiser on his mum’s birthday to raise awareness of Alzheimer’s disease.
Personal trainer, Chris Gallagher, has arranged for his latest ‘Barefoot Magical Mile’ event to take place at Youth Sport Omagh this Saturday, when his beloved mum, Catherine, will be celebrating her birthday.
All the proceeds from the event will be going towards the Omagh Alzheimer’s Society/dementia group, a charity that is very close to Catherine’s heart and has provided vital support for herself and many others locally in recent years.
Due to the Covid-19 restrictions, this year’s fundraiser is strictly limited to 20 walkers or joggers taking part in the Magical Barefoot Challenge, followed by a total of 10 competitive barefoot runners battling for the ‘Magical Barefoot Mile’ honours in both female and male categories.
There are still places available for the events, which are due to start at 1.15pm after a short safety briefing for all participants. To register for one of the last remaining spots, contact 07751 480161.
If anyone would like to talk to Amanda, who manages the Omagh Alzheimer’s Society/dementia group, for any information regarding the event or for personal reasons, contact her on 07912 295750.
