80-year-old couple’s Fintona home burgled by gang

A Fintona couple aged in their eighties became the victims of a burglary when a quantity of jewellery was stolen from their home over the weekend.

The home invasion, which is believed to have taken place between 4pm on Saturday, 5 March and 8am on Sunday, 6 March, was the dirty work of a gang of men who gained access through the rear window.

Once inside the Ecclesgrove Grove house, the thieves went to work, eventually exiting the property with a cargo of jewellery.

Detective Sergeant Reid, appealing for information following the incident, has said the following:

“Sometime between 4pm on Saturday (5 March) and 8am on Sunday (6 March), a group of men gained entry to a house in the Ecclesgrove area through a rear window.

“They ransacked the house and stole a quantity of jewellery.

“The occupants, who are aged in their 80s, were not at home at the time of the incident.

“I would appeal to anyone who witnessed anything suspicious in the area at the time of the incident or who may have dash-cam footage or CCTV footage to contact detectives on 101 quoting reference number 538 06/03/22.”
