Lidl Omagh to remain ‘open as normal’ for next three weeks

LIDL Omagh will be ‘open as normal’ for the next three weeks, following a postponement of the store’s temporary closure due to building supply delays.

The store, which was expected to close today (Saturday), will now close on Saturday, March 19, to accommodate the modernisation and expansion of the store.

Lidl have said they anticipate ‘minimal disruption’ during the construction phase of the £4million James Street development.

The new megastore is expected to create 15 new permanent jobs, while some 200 employees are expected to be involved during the demolition and construction phases of this dramatically-enhanced store.

It is also touted that the new build is going to have a 125-space car park with two electric vehicle charging points.

A spokesperson for Lidl Northern Ireland told the Ulster Herald, “The new store will occupy a site of more than 4,000 sq. metres, including an expanded sales floor of 2,205 sq. metres – more than double the size of the previous store.

“This is an exciting time for Lidl Northern Ireland in Omagh as we deliver on our significant investment pledge for the area and the creation of 15 new jobs while supporting 200 during the demolition and construction phases of this dramatically enhanced store.”
