Magical Santa Claus drive-through comes to town

CHILDREN better make sure they have checked their Christmas lists twice, as Santa Claus is coming to town… And he’s looking forward to seeing what every little one has asked for!

Tomorrow (Friday, December 11), St Nick will descend upon the Car Auction carpark of Gortrush Industrial Estate as part of a spectacular Santa Claus drive-through event, which will see donations being made to frontline workers in the Omagh area, and local charities.

Inside the magical winter wonderland marquee, the extravaganza will feature Santa Claus sitting in his majestic grotto, sparkling under the light of 6,000 bulbs, while his elves diligently make toys at their workshop. Santa’s beautiful animals – including a two-foot-tall snow white miniature Shetland pony called Maggie, and a gorgeous goat called Georgie – will also be pottering about to bring the wonders of Christmas to children.

Describing the Santa Claus Drive-Through as ‘a beautiful spectacle’, a spokesperson said they are very excited to host the event, which will run right up until Christmas week. “We simply can’t wait to see the smiles on the faces of children,” they said. “Children will be able to give their Santa letters and lists directly to Santa Claus himself, which will bring them so much joy, and the bustling, sparkling marquee is a sight to behold itself.

“After all this doom and gloom of Covid this year, children deserve a festive and ful-filled event to lift their spirits.”

Parents/guardians, please note: At present, all children who attend the event will receive a gift from Santa. However, if Covid-19 restrictions change in due time, this may no longer be possible. As such, organisers have issued their advanced apologies for any inconvenience caused.

Ahead of the event, many thanks have been expressed to Derek Clarke and all staff at the Car Auction for all their co-operation and support.

• The Santa Claus drive-through’ will officially open tomorrow (Friday) at the Car Auction carpark at Gortrush Industrial Estate, beginning at 2.30pm to 8.30pm. The event will run right up until Christmas week.

Weekend opening times are:

Saturdays – 2.30pm to 8.30pm;

Sundays – 1.30pm to 7.30pm.

Week-day opening times are: 3.45pm to 8.30pm.
