MORE than 130 young people from Fermanagh and Omagh have been recognised for their achievements and the contribution they make to the district.
The reception, hosted by local council chair John McClaughry and vice-chair Elaine Brough, took place in Strule Arts Centre, Omagh.
The young people were recognised for achievements in a variety of categories including volunteering, charity, public speaking, dancing, drama, athletics, football, Gaelic football, gymnastics, swimming, mini bikes, motocross, netball and table tennis.
The annual Young Achievers event is an opportunity to recognise the outstanding young people whose achievements have brought pride and distinction to the district. This year’s event is included as one of a series of events to mark the local authority’s tenth anniversary.
Cllr McClaughry said, “This event is an opportunity for us to shine a light on you, our young people, and the success you have achieved as well as the positive contribution you have all made in our district.
“I would also like to congratulate all the young people which have exceeded their own personal goals.”
A new nomination format was used for this year’s Young Achievers event and the council thanked all those who took time to submit nominations.
Nominations for the 2025-2026 Young Achievers’ event will open in January 2026.
An FODC spokesperson added, “Fermanagh and Omagh District Council is committed to ensuring that our young people have the best start in life and lifelong opportunities to fulfil their potential. Young Achievers provides an opportunity to encourage our young people to achieve this outcome.”
