Omagh to host first-ever Pride parade

HISTORY will be made in Omagh next month, as the town is set to host its first-ever Pride parade – and you are welcome to get involved in the rainbow of preparations!

Organised by ‘Omagh Pride’ – a group spear-headed by Tyrone women, Cat Brogan and Lorraine Montague – the town’s inaugural LGBTQ parade will take place on September 25, starting and finishing at the car park of South West College, Omagh campus.

At its heart, the event will be a celebration of love in all its forms and riches, and it is hoped the festivities will feature a carnival of cabaret acts by LGBTQ performers, a powerful atmosphere of inclusion, and flamboyant, eye-catching rainbow flags as far as the eye can see.

Cat Brogan of Omagh, who identifies as queer, said that it is ‘about time’ that the townspeople came together in Pride, and has encouraged anyone who wishes to be involved with event preparations, to get in touch.

“Save the date!” Cat said. “Planning is underway, and it is guaranteed to be a fantastic celebration. I’m feeling excited that it is happening, but there is still a lot of work to do.

“Any help we can get would be much-appreciated, so please do spread the word, and get involved as much as you’d like.”
