PLANNING permission is being sought for the construction of eight new two-storey homes near Carrickmore.
Developer Patrick Quinn has submitted a proposal to Fermanagh and Omagh District Council to build the houses on a 0.59-hectare site currently used for agricultural purposes on the Drumnakilly Road. The land, which has recently been grazed, lies within the town’s development limits.
According to the planning statement, the scheme will deliver a ‘quality mix’ of detached family homes. Architectural Design Services, acting on behalf of the developer, also indicated there will be a social housing element included in the project.
They added that the proposed homes will be in keeping with the architectural character of the surrounding area, which features a mix of medium and low-density housing on generous plots with established landscaping and green space.
The Drumnakilly Road has seen significant residential development in recent decades, reflecting broader housing growth across the Omagh area.
In a supporting statement, the planning agent said the proposed development would not cause any unacceptable impact on neighbouring properties in terms of light or dominance.
The council’s planning committee will assess the application in the coming months, with a decision expected later this year.
