Police appeal after quad stolen from Drumquin property

POLICE in Fermanagh and Omagh are appealing for information after a quad bike was stolen from a property in Drumquin.
Posting to social media, police have also issued advice on how to protect property in rural areas.
A police spokesperson said, “Over the past few weeks, we’ve seen a notable rise in quad thefts, with 10 stolen here in our local area, bringing the total to 20 over the past year.
“This morning, three properties were entered around 3 a.m. in the Drumquin area, where another quad, tools, and diesel were stolen.
“We are appealing to all rural farm owners to enhance their security measures. Unfortunately, padlocked sheds and CCTV systems haven’t been enough to deter this gang.”
How to Better Protect Your Quad
• Block the entrance to your quad storage areas with another secure vehicle.
• Chain your quad to a solid, immovable object.
• Consider purchasing additional security equipment like Wheel clamps, Floor mounted quad bike locks, GPS tracking devices or alarms.
The spokesperson continued, “We are assigning more resources to patrol rural areas, but we still need your help.
“Please continue to report any suspicious vehicles or activity to us via 101, no matter how insignificant it may seem. Your information could be crucial in preventing these thefts and catching those responsible.”
