PSNI warning over social media comments on baby death

THE PSNI in Mid-Ulster have issued a warning to people on social media over comments being posted in relation to the death of a two year-old baby in Dungannon three days ago.

The warning came as detectives secured another 36 hours to quiz the man suspected of the murder of little Ali Jayden Maguire .

Last night, the PSNI said they had also arrested a 24-year-old woman on suspicion of perverting the course of justice and “causing or permitting the death of a child and child cruelty.”

In a post on social media, the PSNI said;  “A quick but very important point, there is understandably a lot of anger, sadness and confusion locally and beyond following the suspected murder of the little two year old girl in Dungannon.

“Can we ask that comments on posts do not become anything that will cause issues at a future trial, don’t speculate, or repeat hearsay or talk about something you read on some person’s Facebook profile.

“Officers locally do our best to keep you updated on what’s happening, but please think twice about how what you post. Everyone wants to see justice, do not be the one who puts that at risk by a careless post.”
