Shock and sadness at sudden passing of beloved priest

Shock and sadness has been expressed following the sudden death today (Friday) of Fr Seamus McGinley, who was stationed at Lissan Parish in Cookstown.

From Ballygawley originally, Fr McGinley passed away in his home this morning.

He was an uncle of former Tyrone All Star Enda McGinley.

Ordained in 1975, last June Fr McGinley celebrated 45 years in the priesthood.

He was well known in Tyrone and Armagh having served in parishes in both counties as well as Knockbridge in Co Louth.

Fr McGinley previously was Parish Priest in Ardboe and was in Beragh, Galbally and Aughnacloy.

Funeral arrangements will be announced later.
